身材特异的巨人在吃人鬼家逗留了足足七年，方才回到自己孤寂、凄凉的家中，面对冷清的单身汉生活了。还未到家，便看到家中的花园已经成为了孩子们的乐园，巨人感到受到了侵犯，不禁大怒，赶走了所有的孩子。从此他的花园便长年处于冬眠状态，被洁白的大雪所覆盖。巨人不去花园，只是在房间里坐着摇椅、烙着火。某一天，巨人透过窗，看见窗外一树上结出了洁白的花朵，他深深地为这一情景打动。激动地来到花园中。发现了一个漂亮的孩子，正在树下哭泣。孩子太矮了，没办法爬上树去玩。巨人温柔地将孩子抱上了树，瞬间满树白花，极其炫目。纯真的孩童亲吻了自私的巨人，他如冬天般寒冷刺骨的心灵被感化了......
